Tupac is still alive
For my conspiracy theory research, I decided to look further into the theory that Tupac is still alive.
What is believed?
Many believe that Tupac Shakur was not the one murdered in Las Vegas on
September 7, 1996. While there are many theories on how he might have staged
his death, the most popular conclusion is that he swapped with a double once he
heard there were plans to kill him. Those who believe think he escaped to
somewhere in New Mexico (to join the Navajo people), Cuba, or South Africa, and
lives using a fake identity.
How it evolved?
This theory has evolved from fans noticing discrepancies in his death records,
including missing public cremation records, and the release of the album “The
Don Killuminati: The 7-Day Theory” after his death. Many believe that the use
of the number “7,” in the album is symbolic, as he was “murdered” September 7th,
died 7 days later on September 13th, and the references to rebirth
in the album. In addition, this album was the first of 7 albums released after
his death. Since this theory has started, many videos and photos have been posted
of who many believe is Tupac in Cuba, Malaysia, and other places around the world.
While none of these sightings have been confirmed, they have fueled ongoing theories.
Who believes it?
A mix of fans, pop-culture conspiracy theorists, and some artists/friends (or
at least people associated with the case) believe (or at least entertain) that
there is a possibility he is still alive.
How is it spread?
It spreads through social-media posts, YouTube videos, blog posts showing
alleged sightings, interviews referencing “what if Tupac is alive?”, and articles
claiming “new proof” annually. These get recycled and shared in fan forums and
conspiracy communities.

Thanks for surveying the conspiracy belief that Tupac is alive. I have heard of this one but never looked closely. Interestingly, there is or was a similar belief about Elvis being alive. Those who loved him did not want to accept his death. I wonder if there are not other beliefs of living/dead celebrities.
